The Rural Impact 2026 Registration is Now Open!
The University of Mississippi School of Medicine’s IMPACT the RACE (ItR) program is pleased to host the fifth annual Rural Medicine Education Symposium – The Rural Impact 2026.
This free continuing education event will be held on the UMMC campus at the Norman C. Nelson Student Union on February 20–21, 2026. The symposium offers a statewide forum for physician educators, administrators, trainees, and rural health partners to share best practices and explore strategies that strengthen care delivery in rural communities.
Participants will be able to:
- Examine system-level issues impacting rural patient care
- Explore best practices for managing patient populations in rural settings
- Review tools that support high-quality care in rural communities
- Define approaches to leverage medical education to sustain the rural workforce
This year’s program will feature expert speakers from across Mississippi on rural medicine, policy, business, and workforce development. Friday evening will include a scholarship ceremony honoring medical students committed to rural primary care, as well as a research poster session. Saturday will offer plenary sessions, a panel discussion, and skills training.

Registration is now open for the fifth annual Rural Medicine Education Symposium, hosted by the School of Medicine’s IMPACT the RACE program on February 20–21, 2026, at the Norman C. Nelson Student Union. This free CE event will bring together physicians, educators, trainees, and rural health partners to explore best practices, system challenges, and strategies to strengthen rural health care and medical education in Mississippi.
The program will feature statewide expert speakers, a scholarship ceremony, a research poster session, plenary sessions, and a skills workshop.
